Habe da mal was ergattert,jetzt könnt ihr auch den USB Stick nutzen bei der 7020 und die Images der 7000

 

Miniroot7020 - a multiboot solution for the 7020

Install at your own risk bla-bla-bla.

 

Quick installation:

1) Ftp the .ipk file to the /tmp directory of your dreambox 7020

2) Run the command (telnet) "ipkg install /tmp/miniroot7020__powerpc.ipk"

   Replace with the actual version, of course.

3) Restart your dreambox.

4) From the boot menu, set up your network, then boot from flash to see that

   the original image is still usable.

5) Reboot again, go to WEB mode in the boot menu, and use your browser to

   install images.

 

To uninstall:

Boot from flash.

Run the command (telnet) "ipkg remove miniroot7020".

 

This is still beta software, meaning that there is still functionality that has

received little or no testing.

 

Using this software, you're supposed to be able to install and boot both 7020 images

(.nfi format) and 7000 images (.img) images on either USB memory sticks, CF cards,

HDD, CIFS or NFS.  Please let me know if any of these combinations doesn't work.

 

I know there are 7000 images that will cause problems on network shares.  Nobody's

fault really.  It's just that some images assume that the network can be brought down

without causing problems.  This just won't be the case when booting off the network in

the first place.

 

- Fixes bug in "module load" functionality in /linuxrc.

- Adds a "backup configuration files" function.

- Fixes a few bugs that were insignificant on the 7020, but would prove more serious on the 7000.

- A few changes (hopefully improvements) to the HTML pages.

- German translation of README file for 7020.

- First release to be built from common (7020/7000) build environment.

- "Release candidate 2". With a little bit of luck, this will go unchanged to release status.

Die empfohlene Vorgehensweise ist:

 

1. Aus dem Flash booten.

 

2. (nur bei Installierter Version ansonsten mit 3 fortfahren) ipkg remove miniroot7020

 

3. ipkg install miniroot7020__powerpc.ipk

 

4. Reboot.

 

Die Konfiguration bleibt erhalten!

 

Meine meinung:

eigentlich unnütz da ja der primäre Bootloader geschützt ist aber wer´s brauch

ich lasse lieber alles so,habe den Gemini Mod. drauf und läuft echt super wieso sollte ich da wieder prähistorische 7000 Soft aufspielen. Aber für leute die viel testen und die Image schneller wechseln als ich Telefonieren kann vielleicht doch eine interessante Sache.

Nachdem ihr Euch immer beklagt das Barry Allen vom Image im Flash abhängig ist und daher manche Leute

sich deswegen lieber immer noch mit Multiboot quälen gibt es jetzt Wally West.

 

Was macht nun Wally West zusammen mit Barry Allen ?

 

Im Prinzip ermöglicht er Euch in einer 7025 oder 7020 auf der CF Karte, und bei 800 auf USB stick, oder bei 8000

auf CF oder USB stick ähnlich wie beim Multiboot eine FAT Partition zu haben und von dort wie beim Multiboot

den Kernel des jeweiligen Images zu booten. Allerdings wird der Image Kernel von CF Karte nur verwendet wenn

man den Bootmanager vom Barry Allen disabled (dadurch wurden ja auch jetzt schon keine wichtigen Treiber mehr

vom Flash geladen, allerdings wird immer noch der Flash Kernel verwendet), solange der Bootmanager enabled ist

funktioniert Barry Allen auch mit Wally West wie gewohnt mit dem Kernel und den 3 Treibern aus dem Flash.
